Senator Coleman visits Mankato Implement to discuss energy concerns and the importance of increased domestic energy production to America’s farm and rural economy.

On September 10, 2008 Senator Norm Coleman testified at an Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee hearing examining a Government Accountability Office report on the Highway Bridge Program. The report, initiated by Senator Coleman, Senator Carl Levin, and the EPW Committee, found that the federal Highway Bridge Program lacks focus and performance measures as currently constructed. In his testimony, Senator Coleman called for reforming the way we measure the condition of bridges, prioritize money for infrastructure work, and the need to provide greater accountability.

Coleman looks on as President Bush signs into law the Childhood Cancer Act. He has been actively working to pass the bill since he first introduced it in March of 2006. It provides $30 million per year through 2013 to establish special programs of research excellence in the area of pediatric cancers; create a national childhood cancer database; and increase information support for families affected by childhood cancer.

On July 2nd, Senator Norm Coleman traveled to Rochester to meet with Midwest Specialized Transportation employees to discuss the widening impact of skyrocketing energy costs. During his visit, Coleman outlined his comprehensive legislation to address our energy security needs by increasing domestic energy production, expanding renewable and alternative energy sources, and emphasizing technological solutions.
