The Committee appointed to decide upon the relative claims to public approval of the two portraits of Mr. Clay submitted to them for their decision, and of opinion that the portrait drawn by Mr. Fry(e) should be accepted. The Committee was divided in opinion four being in favor of Mr. Fry(e)’s portrait and three in favor of Mr. Stanton’s.
