The governing committees of the Congressional media galleries will again allocate credentials and work space for the Republican National Convention in Tampa, FL, Aug. 27-30, 2012; and the Democratic Convention in Charlotte, NC, September 3-6, 2012.
Information and application forms through this site are for DAILY NEWSPAPERS, WIRE SERVICES, DAILY WEBSITES AND OTHER DAILY PUBLICATIONS.
THE DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS FOR CREDENTIALS AND PRESS STAND SEATS IS APRIL 15, 2012.
To apply for credentials, you must fill out an application form electronically. If you have not been credentialed for the conventions before, a cover letter on the letterhead of your organization may be requested.
If your print publication publishes fewer than 4 times a week, you must
apply through the Senate
Periodical Press Gallery.
If you are affiliated with a Radio or Television organization, apply through
the House Radio/TV Gallery.
ALL photographers (including representatives of daily newspapers
and wire services) must apply to the Press
Photographers' Gallery.
Credentials are assigned on the condition that they are used by paid full-time
correspondents of your organization. No stringers, freelancers, interns,
students or family members will be credentialed. Only adults will be permitted
on the press stands. You may be required to show an I.D. from your news
organization to enter the press stands.
Housing requests are handled by the Republican
Committee on Arrangements and the Democratic
National Convention Committee Media Logistics respectively.
