WASHINGTON -- The Senate Wednesday night appointed conferees for the IRS reform bill, Senate Finance Committee Chairman William V. Roth, Jr. (R-DE) announced Thursday.
"The Senate's version of IRS reform, approved unanimously, added key provisions to the House bill which go to the heart of the problems at the IRS. I would hope that the House could accept the provisions that we added to their bill, so that we can conference the two bills quickly, and begin the job of reforming the IRS," Roth stated.
From the Senate Finance Committee, Senators Roth, Chafee, Grassley, Hatch, Murkowski, Nickles, Gramm, Moynihan, Baucus, Graham, Breaux, and Kerrey have been appointed.
From the Senate Governmental Affairs Committee, Senators Thompson, Brownback, Cochran, Durbin, and Cleland have been appointed.
