Senator Schumer offers internship opportunities year round for qualified college students in our New York and Washington, D.C. offices. The program offers students an opportunity to observe
and participate in the workings of the United States Senate through full or part-time work in one of our offices. Interns rapidly become a working part of the office and are offered opportunities to
assist professional staff in legislative, press, administrative, and constituent service activities. |
We can assist in arranging tours of the Capitol, White House and other popular tourist attractions
in the Washington area. Because Congressional tour spots fill up quickly, please provide the office with as much advance notice as possible. |
The office can arrange for a U.S. flag to be flown over the U.S. Capitol. Flags can be flown on any day of the year for special occasions or events. |
Senator Schumer acts as an advocate for his constituents in contacting Federal agencies to
ensure that their claims are reviewed thoroughly. |
To be considered for admission to a United States service academy (Army, Air Force, Navy, and Merchant Marine), an individual must have a nomination either through a Member of the United
States Senate or House of Representatives or through a military service connection. Senators nominate applicants in their entire state and Representatives nominate those who are domiciled in
their Congressional district. Applicants may and should apply to both their Senators and Member of Congress. |
The Page Program exposes students to many interesting and challenging experiences. Living away from home and attending school with students from all across the country allows pages to experience a myriad of new ideas, perspectives, and issues. Pages meet some of the Nation's most prominent leaders and witness firsthand the political debates of the United States Senate, often referred to as the "greatest deliberative body in the world." |
