Stabenow, Levin Announce Over $2 Million in Transportation Funding for Southeast Michigan
 
WASHINGTON —U.S. Senators Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) and Carl Levin (D-MI) today announced Senate passage of a bill to provide technical corrections to the Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users (SAFETEA-LU). The legislation includes provisions designating $2,040,000 for projects in the Monroe area.

“Southeast Michigan will benefit greatly from the vital funding this legislation provides” Stabenow said. “I am pleased the efforts of Congressman Dingell, Senator Levin and myself have resulted in securing funding for these critical projects improving transportation in the region.”

“I was pleased to work with Congressman Dingell and Senator Stabenow to make these much needed corrections to the transportation bill,” Levin said. “These projects can now move forward, bringing the benefits of better infrastructure and improved traffic flow to Southeast Michigan.”

The bill includes the following projects in the Monroe area:

• $1 million- East County fueling operations consolidation at the Monroe County Road Commission and enhancement of facilities to accommodate biodiesel fuel pumps, Monroe County

• $940,000- Phase 1 of Monroe County greenway system construction, Monroe County

• $100,000- Greenway trail construction from City of Monroe to Sterling State Park, City of Monroe

• A project connecting the Pittsfield and Ann Arbor greenway systems, Pittsfield Township, Washtenaw County
