  • Object Description
  • This Pietra Dura marble box and plate set was accepted by a senator on behalf of the United States in 1987 as a gift from a government official of the Republic of India. The box and plate are decorated with a floral design of inlaid turquoise, lapis lazuli, agate, mother-of-pearl, and malachite. As with all foreign gifts, its acceptance and use are governed by the Foreign Gifts and Decorations Act (5 U.S.C. § 7342).
