Object Description
This duduk, a traditional Armenian woodwind instrument crafted from apricot wood, was accepted by a senator on behalf of the United States in 2007 as a gift from a government official of the Republic of Armenia. This limited-edition duduk was presented in a gift box along with a double reed; recordings by renowned Armenian musician and composer Djivan Gasparian on CD and DVD; and a paper insert with a text titled "The Duduk Legend." A small brass plaque at the end of the duduk is engraved with the number 125. As with all foreign gifts, its acceptance and use is governed by the Foreign Gifts and Decorations Act (5 U.S.C. § 7342).
