This embossed leather album with brass clasps contains 88 cabinet card photographs from the Washington, D.C., studio of famed American photographer Charles Milton Bell. The photographs are arranged two to a page and depict senators, cabinet members, and Supreme Court Justices from the mid-1880s, including: President Chester A. Arthur, Secretary of War Robert T. Lincoln, Chief Justice M.R. Waite, and Senators George Hoar, John T. Morgan, Justin S. Morrill, and Daniel W. Voorhees.
The album was presented to the Honorable H. H. Riddleberger whose image appears next to fellow Virginia senator William Mahone. Having decended through the family, the album was generously donated to the Senate by the Riddleberger family in 2000.
