This embossed leather album with brass clasps, contains 80 cabinet card photographs from the Washington, D.C., studio of famed Civil War photographer Mathew Brady. The photographs are arranged alphabetically and depict nearly all of the senators serving in the 41st Congress (1869-1870) including: Hannibal Hamlin, Charles Sumner, Hiram Revels, and Vice President Schuyler Colfax. Seventy-three senators autographed the pages containing their portrait.
