In 1934, Senator Huey P. Long donated this King James Bible to the Senate Official Reporters of Debates, so that they could accurately attribute the passages he used in his Senate floor speeches. During his Senate career (1959-2010) Senator Robert C. Byrd also frequently quoted from the King James Bible in his floor speeches. The Senate Official Reporters of Debates traditionally sign this Bible when they are first hired and again when they retire. There are now more than 30 signatures in the "Family Record/Births" section of this Bible.
