Object Description
This square mahogany gavel block was made for use on the vice president's desk in the Old Senate Chamber. It was placed on the desk sometime around 1980 and remained on display in the Old Senate Chamber for many years. It was also used in a joint meeting of Congress convened in Philadelphia's Congress Hall on July 16, 1987, to commemorate the bicentennial of the United States Constitution.
