Edwin Jacob "Jake" Garn (R-UT)

Utah Senator Jake Garn became the first sitting member of the U.S. Congress to fly into space when he flew aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery as a payload specialist during NASA mission STS-51-D from April 12, 1985 to April 19, 1985.
