This brass compass and sundial instrument—together with an embossed leather case, an engraved wood gift box, and the 2020 United States Congressional holiday ornament—was presented in lieu of traditional Inaugural Luncheon gifts as part of the 59th Presidential Inaugural Ceremonies. The Inaugural Luncheon was not held in 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The compass, made by Track of the Wolf, Inc., of Elk River, Minnesota, is a replica of a mid-18th-century navigation tool.
