Object Description
This medium-brown leather cover was crafted to hold a replica mid-18th-century brass compass and sundial instrument. The compass with leather pouch —together with an engraved wood gift box and the 2020 United States Congressional holiday ornament—was presented in lieu of traditional Inaugural Luncheon gifts as part of the 59th Presidential Inaugural Ceremonies. The Inaugural Luncheon was not held in 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The pouch, made by Ozark Leather Supply Co. of Ozark, Missouri, is embossed on one side with the Great Seal of the United States and closes on the other side with a brass fastener.
