Burning of Veterans' Bonus Expeditionary Forces (BEF) Camp, 1932

After Congress adjourned in July 1932, President Hoover ordered U.S. Army general Douglas MacArthur to evict the BEF from the city. Troops set fire to the largest BEF camp.
